The television has gotten very little rest in our house this past week. We've been recording all Olympic coverage on the DVR, so we don't miss a second of the winter games. The DVR is our best friend when it comes to watching sports, especially, when you're watching a 3 hour curling match or a Norwegian national anthem. I can't watch anything without the fast-forward button now. Very ADD of me.Between the cold weather & the Olympics, I've had a chance to stay home & do a lot of cooking. I've been wearing out my bread machine with different recipes from the book that came with my machine. So far my favorite has been the zucchini whole wheat, I believe. Although this sweet Hawaiian bread I made from a mix was really good. Also testing out some Rachel Ray goodies, the pecan crusted chicken tenders with tangy maple dressing are amazing. There were some yummy turkey burgers with guacamole from one of my books too.
The crafting has really suffered due to the abnormal amount of TV watching, however, I am excited to learn about a new craft show that's going to be in Tulsa this June called "The Alliday Show." It's a free admission show at the fairgrounds, so it should be a nice turnout. I'm not sure about the types of vendors who are participating, but hoping it will be on the "indie" side. I'm glad I don't have to wait until the fall for a Tulsa craft show to market my little friends at.
I did spend 4 hours in line at Snowflakes (downtown Broken Arrow) to save 50% on some fabric. Am I insane?! I had no clue it was going to take that long, but it is a very small shop with no clue how to use their computer system. Not cool. So there were 50-100 women crammed in a little fabric shop greedily grabbing up bolts of fabric, then waiting in line for hours upon hours. I did get all the Echino fabric they had plus some other really cute ones. I felt terrible afterward, but that stuff does not go on sale, ever! I also met some really cool girls in line. :)
Now that I have four months to plan for the show, I really want to narrow my focus. The only problem is I like making too many things! Last year I brought a large variety of items to all my shows because I was experimenting with what would sell the best. Now I have cards, jewelry, pillows, paintings, collages, prints, sock buddies & other softies, postcards, & embroidered towels, sometimes other misc. It seems like the plush items were a big hit, so I'm thinking about focusing on them more, but I really like making other fabric housewares, like wall hangings & throw pillows. Painting has always been my first love, so I hate to stop doing that. Any thoughts out there?
